Of course it would take an Apple event to get me to update this site. I’ve been watching Twitter and reading comments on Engadget and Ars Technica (no idea why I did that). There are of course the usual “Fail” comments. These are expected as the collective IQ of the internet evens out.
Figures
point/counter point on the iPad
I’m not addressing the lesser of these commentaries as there’s no point but I did want to put out my .02¢ regarding certain perceived weaknesses of the iPad.
- The name
Ok, given, that’s a lousy name. So is Bic. - No multi-tasking
If that’s important to you, then I imagine that’s bad. It’s not in the least ways important to me. - No camera
If you want to take photos of something go get a camera. I have a nice Canon A90. Works fine. If you want to video-conference, I’m betting you have a computer you already do that with. Where were you planning to video-conference with a tablet? - Storage
This complaint make no sense to me at all. Try as I might I can’t imagine what you’re planning on putting on this thing that would take upwards of 16-64GB? My iPhone is an 8GB model. There’s not enough time in the day to use all the apps and listen to all the audio or read all the kindle books that are on my iPhone at this moment. That’s 8GB. - No Flash
Again, I don’t see the deficit here. The only site I visit with even a modicum of regularity that uses Flash is Youtube and Apple sorted that a while ago. - The OS/App Store
Works for me. Sorry you’re so crushed.
Of course, I’m an Apple apologist/fanboy/whackjob.
Here’s the thing, you don’t have to buy it. Maybe it’s not for your incredibly niche demographic. Perhaps, today, it’s time for my niche demographic to get some service.
Better luck next time. Who knows, maybe iPad 2.0 will have all the features you think it’s crazy to leave out of the 1.0 version.
Oh, and feel free to disagree with me @restiffbard
