I was just reading the New York Times cover article from Saturday regarding Bernard Kerik’s rather curious history. It’s an extensive history of Kerik’s rather corrupt years of service to New York City.
I think the most telling part of the whole piece, though, was Giuliani’s apparent preference for loyalty over competence or ethics. Honestly, I’ve had enough of politicians that think loyalty is all it takes to get the job done. President Bush is renowned for his loyalty to those that are loyal to him. What a fine mess that’s gotten us into.

is the only qualified candidate the bruised candidate?
trouble down the line
Kerik is now facing further legal problems stemming from his involvement with a company with apparent mob ties. That bit of trouble has the potential to come to the fore just as Giuliani would be looking to receive the Republican nomination.
Just as I’ve tired of executives with too much loyalty on the brain I’ve also tired of scandal plagued executives. I had enough of special prosecutors when I was still in high school.
I’m not saying that I think Giuliani is in any way dirty. He may just be stupid. All the same, I just don’t need the investigation. Neither does the nation.
no one is squeaky clean
Looking at any of the other candidates I can’t be sure that any of them from either party is free from any potential future investigation for past lapses of memory or judgement. So, if it’s true that none of them can avoid it does that mean the only clean choice is Clinton?
How’s that for irony? You may not like Clinton but you have to admit the Senator can’t possibly have anything bigger than a metatarsal left in her closet at this point.
